Can i stamp my own service book




















I also keep all invoices and a spreadsheet giving dates, details, and cost. I keep all my receipts and another list for repairs etc i do along the way. I have excel spreadsheet with problems I have found, how it resolved etc including the bits I bought plus the receipts, it seems a bit ocd but that way I am not trying to remember too much.

I do that too. I have a spreadsheet which tallies up with every reciept in my wallets concerning every purchase, which is another reason why i say those after a simple dealer or indy stamp who want to pick holes in the above method can fuck right off. I had a stamp made up on eBay and stamp it each time I do any service work on it. Like you guys say, you are more likely to take good care of it compared to the average garage.

If a potential buyer is bothered enough to go through the service book I'll happily be honest about it. For any buyers who don't know what a service book is, I probably won't mention it. I just keeps all receipts and write the mileage and date on it. I did fill the last few service stamp info in myself but ran out of book! After all, a dealer stamp and an itemised list of parts used doesn't definitely mean it's been done whereas if you've got receipts for the parts it does.

The company I work for has started to carry out budget services that only include an oil and oil filter change and the car is checked over. No other parts are fitted including the sump plug. It is named as the dealership service not that brand so there should be no mistake that it is to the manufacturer's specifications. But as a service advisor I have been asked to stamp the service books on the cars having these services as I would with a maufacturer's service, I am not comfortable with this so have been stamping them but hand writing that it is only and oil and filter service to which my boss has taken it that I am being "awkward" and told me "I am of no use to him as a service advisor if I am not willing to follow his command".
