Why did lecy goranson leave

How do you feel? I just feel so excited. We love being together. What can I say? This is what we were hoping for. The ratings have been such an unbelievable delight for us. But, in addition, in just a couple days, getting picked up for another season is pretty fantastic. So are you ready to dedicate all of your life to Roseanne? Like you said, the ratings have been huge. What do you think has been behind the popularity of the show coming back?

Well, I think people just relate to things that are authentic. What was it like for you the first time you came back onto the set? It was just being totally surrounded by familiarity and of course, I was on set with Michael Fishman and Sara Gilbert, my TV siblings, so there was that feeling of being kids again.

Then seeing everybody, all the crew who were back and some of the writers and directors that were back. It reminded me that I had this big family. How was this time different from the last time? Well, the last time, I would say things on set were pretty tense.

The climate on set these days has been so different. It makes it less intense in terms of the fame elements or the pressure. I feel like everyone can weather the sitcom storm more effectively now. The first time I came back, I was hoping I would have some kind of resolve from when I left. But I guess I felt like I had already moved on from it. What did you think was unresolved from the first time you left?

I think rightly so, people were concerned about the show itself and missing such an integral character and energy, so it was all those things. Even by the s when the Becky switch happened, TV recastings , even on major shows, weren't a rare or new thing. The most famous example probably being the recasting of husband Darrin on the s sitcom Bewitched , with actor Dick Sargent replacing original cast member Dick York.

It would seem Hollywood was overflowing with actors named Dick at the time. The phenomenon makes sense, as TV shows - hopefully - run for a number of years, in some cases even decades. Networks are rarely keen to give up on a show bringing in viewers and profits, but at the same time, actors can get sick of playing the same character, and decide that they want out. When the powers that be want more of a show, but an actor no longer wants to participate, a recasting is a natural solution.

Either that or create a new similar character to fill the void. With that in mind, Roseanne 's Becky actress leaving and being replaced might not have been too big a deal in the grand scheme, had things played out normally. Instead, Roseanne ended up playing a game of musical Beckys, with fans never knowing for sure who they would see on a particular episode.

Actress Lecy Goranson originated the role of Becky Conner and played her for the entirety of Roseanne seasons , and part of season 5.

In , at age 18, Goranson decided she wanted to attend Vassar College. Sarah then portrayed Becky on Seasons 6 and 7. I watched the show, I loved the show.

Lecy portrays a grown-up Becky on the series — which premiered on ABC on Tuesday, March 27 — and Sarah plays a middle-class woman named Andrea who hires Becky to be her surrogate. I was so excited to hear that it was coming back.

I think the timing is perfect. The writing is so unbelievable.
